Last year, a bunch of amazing Warriors took part in the 5k Tough Mudder, the 5k Pretty Muddy and the 5k Rough Runner. Myself and two other mums did the full 12 mile Tough Mudder! Along the way, there were lots of laughs, mud, tears, sweat and even ripped leggings. But every single person felt a sense of accomplishment. So I thought we should do it again!
I’ve put details of the obstacle courses for 2020 coming up in Finsbury Park. If you fancy doing this as a team, as part of the Warriors, drop me an email and I’ll set up WhatsApp groups to discuss training and logistics.
There’s 13 obstacles if you do a 5k, and 20 obstacles if you do a 10k. It requires teamwork, team spirit and a gung-ho attitude! Thankfully, there’s no electrocution – they save that for the full Tough Mudder. Hurrah!
You can find out more about the event and how we did here.
They didn’t lie – it was Pretty Muddy! While Tough Mudder has some obstacles in which had the fear factor, Pretty Muddy felt like the safest option out of them all. The obstacles were friendly and manageable and more emphasis was placed on silliness and fun.
Who doesn’t love inflatables?! A mix between Total Wipeout and a bouncy castle, Rough Runner is silly, crazy and full of fun.
Scared? Don’t be – none of them are timed and everyone all sticks together. It’s more about enjoying yourself rather than being a great runner or athlete. The training is fun too – there’s normally a group of us who do the Park Run in Highbury Fields, a free and friendly 5k run every Saturday morning at 9am, and extra training sessions are put on.
