I have recently started attending Eliza’s Repair, Restore & Retrain classes after the birth of my second child. Eliza is passionate about women’s health and has undertaken training specific to postpartum recovery so I feel in very safe hands. She really cares about your recovery and takes any postpartum issues you may have into account during the class. As such, she pitches the classes at just the right level as well as making them fun 🙂 On top of that, she is absolutely lovely and holds my velcro baby as needed to allow me to focus on the class. 10/10! My primary motivation for seeking out a personal trainer was to find someone that could help this reluctant exerciser want to come back for more. Eliza has not only done that for me but so much more. Thanks to Eliza, I consistently do exercise now – not just with her in our fantastic sessions – but in my own time too. I feel she has equipped me with the skills that I need to know in order to exercise with the correct techniques to make the mot out of what I’m doing – whether it’s a brief HIIT session, boxing or a full weights routine. Would recommend to anyone who’s bored of the gym or regular fitness classes

There’s a focus on setting intentions before the sessions start and I particularly like the balance exercises which look easy, but are actually quite a struggle. Would recommend to anyone who’s bored of the gym or regular fitness classes – I guarantee you’ll learn something new and get sweaty in the process. I’m seeing progress in my strength already and look forward to getting better each week.

I gained mobility

I think for me the most interesting bit was experiencing the difference when the muscles have been loosened and I gained the mobility. I found this really motivating to do something about this. Much more than someone telling me that my shoulders are forward and my back slightly curved, you were able to show me. That’s really powerful!

I’ve felt energetic and happy throughout my pregnancy and I think these sessions are hugely responsible for that. I’ve slept well, and haven’t had the usual aches and pains, nor have my hands and feet swollen. It’s a really enjoyable, up-beat session

I started going to Eliza’s Restore, Repair etc class on Tuesday afternoon when I was 6-weeks pp. It’s a really enjoyable, up-beat session with lots of variations depending on injury’s / fitness, focusing on getting moving again and strengthening glutes / back.

I really liked how you listened to my situation and were able to interpret how you could help me. I also enjoyed how you explained everything to me (I guess talking during a massage is personal preference) and that’s made me feel more positive towards how I can make an impact on my body myself.

I was really relaxed at the end of it. Apart from the actual massage, which felt incredibly nice and not at all painful (my worry previously when anyone suggested a sports massage), I particularly liked the starting diagnosis/questioning, where I felt heard and got some good insight into why this problem might have happened in the first place. I was able to access much greater shoulder mobility

After the massage I was able to access much greater shoulder mobility. I noticed this in my yoga (both in down dog and warrior poses – I was able to get my arms much closer in to my ears and more vertical above my head). I have also been more aware of shoulder position when carrying rucksack, sitting, walking etc, trying to hold the shoulders low and further back. This makes some other muscles (particularly side of neck) tight and prompts me to stretch them (and receive LOOKS from Nuria). I also notice tingling sometimes when this happens, which tells me that the position of the shoulders is different but also that there is more work to do here…

I’ve always felt like I’m in very capable hands

From our initial consultation I knew Eliza was a different breed, we didn’t jump into cardio, instead she took the time to look at my posture and think carefully about what I needed to work on. Eliza brings in thinking from lots of different disciplines and so there’s a lot of variety in what we do. It’s challenging and fun in equal measure. I’ve always felt like I’m in very capable hands, and she’s adapted our work-outs as things have progressed and we use a range of at-home equipment to keep it interesting. As an aside she’s also got great chat and is a fount of knowledge for everything baby and birth related which has been a real bonus…
