PERSONAL TRAINING
Do I need to buy my own equipment or will you provide it? Everyone who signs up with me receives a resistance band. Each session will be different so we’ll use a variety of equipment. I’ll provide this, but if you have equipment we can use, that can make sessions more interesting.
Where do you train clients? I either train clients at their home*, in their gardens*, out in Highbury Fields, Clissold Park or a local green space near them, or at a gym on Shepperton Road.
What if I have to miss a session? If you can’t make one week, we will try and get 2 sessions in another week. I’ll always try and accommodate if certain things come up, but sessions cannot be carried over.
How much notice do I need to give if I can’t make a session? For last minute cancellations (within 12 hours), you’ll use up one of your sessions.
What can I expect? We’ll have a 20 min call so I can gather background information, make sure I’m clear on goals and that I know everything I need to. At the first session, we’ll do an assessment, checking for diastasis, posture and technique and for the remaining time we’ll do a short workout. From here, I’ll be able to put together a programme for you.
As well as taking your goal into consideration, we’ll also rebuild strength from inside out, release tight muscles, strengthen where you need to and work on avoiding common injuries.
GROUP SESSIONS
Mobility and Movement
How will this help me? In so many ways! It’ll help you feel more confident about your ability in your body, help you move better and feel great.
Is there an upper age limit? Absolutely not – this is open to all, of all abilities, ages and sexes.
Mums and Babies Classes
Are babies welcome? Yes, absolutely. They can either hang about in their buggy, you can bring a mat for them to roll about on, or you can put wear them in a sling.
I don’t have a mat. Where can I get one from and do I really need one? You can buy one for as little as £10 online. Prices for yoga mats go right the way up to £100 or more but you really don’t need something like that. They’re really useful and can be used for many other things eg as something to sit on during outdoor picnics. If you are really stuck getting one, you can use a towel or a picnic mat.
I’m not fit. Does that matter? It doesn’t matter what your starting point is, this class is open to all levels of fitness. These are designed to leave you unable to walk but will work your essential muscles and you can work at your own pace.
I’m already fit. Would these classes still benefit me? You may be running marathons but these classes can still help. They work on strengthening and repairing areas of the body which are often neglected or overlooked but which are absolutely necessary for future health.
How soon after giving birth can I attend these sessions? You’re welcome to join once you’ve had your 6 / 10-week post-natal check providing the doctor is happy with your health.
What should I wear? Wear comfy clothes which you find easy to move about in. For the indoor sessions, there’s no jumping and being barefoot or in socks is encouraged. For outdoor classes, please wear trainers and a sports bra if you want to try some of the exercise progressions.
I’ve got a diastasis – can I still come? Absolutely! We can have a chat about this before the class starts and I’ll provide modifications or guidance where needed. Just because you’ve got a diastasis doesn’t mean you can’t still exercise!
I’ve been diagnosed with a prolapse – can I still come? In most cases, yes. I’ve got experience with working with women with a prolapse and also hernias. However, it’s always good to get guidance from your physio. For those with a mild prolapse, I’m confident I can make sure you’re staying within your limits with the class. However, for optimal results, it’s best to invest in personal training sessions for dedicated sessions. I’m also happy to have a chat to your doctor or women’s health physio to discuss your specific requirements.
Do my class packs have an expiry date? Yes, use them within 6 months of purchase, otherwise they will expire.
Is there a toilet? For the classes at Christ Church, yes, there’s a toilet. For outdoor sessions, there are toilets by the Oasis Cafe which you can use.
*If Covid-19 guidelines change, then this will impact where we can train.
